This short story, right before your eyes, was made to show you what no one should ever have to see. Dedicated to my father, one of the Blue Helmets who helped rebuild the Stari Most during the Bosnia and Herzegovina conflict.

Set in a war-torn world where hope never quite dies, ‘Emberborne’ is a dark meditation on the cyclical nature of war and its human cost. The short film follows a nameless warrior fighting in a conflict that has long since lost its meaning. As echoes of the past and the pain of loss haunt the battlefield, an irremediable force intervenes, challenging the notion of violence as destiny. This short film is intended as an anti-war statement that questions whether history is doomed to repeat itself or whether there is still a way out of the fire. Directed & Edited by Sevy Silva, ‘Emberborne’ was created in 48 hours for the February 2024 edition of RUNWAY's GEN:48, and made it to the finals.
